Join us for tasty, nutritious food and pleasant conversation with other seniors at a Friendship Caf\u00e9 near you. Enjoy old friends and make new ones in a friendly atmosphere, often with live entertainment, games, informational programs, outings, and other social activities.<\/strong>

\nWho May Attend?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Age 60 or older.
\nNot home-bound.
\nLiving in a private residence (not a current resident of an adult care residence, assisted living facility, or nursing home).
\nResiding in the counties of Bland, Carroll, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, or Wythe, or the cities of Bristol, or Galax, VA.
\nAlso eligible are the spouses and dependent adult children of members.<\/strong>
\n
\nWhat Does The Friendship Caf\u00e9 Provide?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

A hot, nutritious meal providing one-third of the recommended dietary allowance.
\nExercise opportunities, information on senior issues, health, and nutrition education.
\nHealth screenings and other education, enrichment, and social activities.
\nVolunteer opportunities, such as calling to check on isolated seniors.
\nAssistance with locating additional services, if needed.<\/strong>

\nHow Much Does It Cost?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

There is NO CHARGE<\/strong> for this service. All participants are encouraged to contribute according to their ability; however, there is no obligation. Donations help us provide more meals for seniors in our community and are voluntary and confidential.<\/strong>

\nWhen Are Friendship Caf\u00e9s Open?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Friendship Caf\u00e9 days may vary but hours generally run from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.<\/strong>

Participants can drive themselves, get rides with friends and family, or (where available) use one of the public transit buses provided and coordinated by Mountain Lynx Transit.
