HOME MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT- Hourly Rate of Pay: $9.01 - $9.75;Hours per Week:22.5; District Three Governmental Cooperative is seeking a Part-Time Home Maintenance Assistant based in the Marion Office. This person must travel to homes in our service area of Grayson, Carroll, Bland, Wythe, Smyth and Washington County and the cities of Galax and Bristol to assist in day-to-day routine home maintenance, minor carpentry work, and minor plumbing work for our clients. The Home Maintenance Assistant will perform assigned duties related to minor home repair under the supervision of the Executive Assistant.  Substance abuse testing required. TRANSIT OPERATIONS MANAGER - Candidates for Transit Operations Manager will have five years of increasingly responsible experience in a managerial position that includes supervision and responsibility for employee management, safety, and training.  He/She must have excellent oral and written communications skills along with strong computer skills using a variety of standard business related software programs and transit technologies.

Duties may include: Planning, organizing and directing the activities of the public transit systems in compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and agency rules, regulations and policies; supervising and evaluating the performance of subordinates; coordinating training programs for new and existing transit staff; monitoring safety; managing and adjusting schedules for staff and public transit systems; conducting route analysis and studies related to transit operations; marketing and promoting the use of transit systems through meetings with community groups, the general public and through the media; responding to passenger accidents or incidents; responding to inquiries, complaints and correspondence from customers and the public; procurement; implementation and utilization of transit industry technologies; and driving or dispatching when necessary; Must be willing to work a varied schedule as necessary. Position is full-time with excellent benefits and requires a valid Virginia Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a P endorsement.  Starting pay range is $14.78 to $15.99 per hour.  Substance abuse testing required.

 

TRANSIT AREA SUPERVISOR - The preferred candidate will have three years of work experience in a supervisory capacity, strong oral and written communications skills along with effective computer skills. Must have a high school diploma (some college preferred), and good driving record. He/She is responsible for executing the day-to-day operations of the individual transit systems.  He/She must maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all applicable policies and regulations. The Area Supervisor will be responsible for supervision of assigned drivers and Operations Specialists/ Dispatchers.  He/She must be willing to work as a dispatcher or driver as needed. Must be willing to work a varied schedule as necessary. Position is full-time with excellent benefits and requires a valid Virginia Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a P endorsement. Starting pay range is $12.80 to $13.85 per hour. Substance abuse testing required.

 

TRANSIT DRIVERS (Substitute) - Candidates will have a good driving record, ability to pass a drug test, job related physical and background check. This position also requires that you can pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) screening and be issued a DOT Medical Certification. Substitute Transit Drivers are scheduled to fill in for regular drivers as needed. Substitute Transit Drivers are eligible to transfer to regular part-time Transit Driver positions on a competitive basis as vacancies occur. Transit Drivers are responsible for operating buses in a safe and efficient manner and for providing for the safety and well-being of the passengers. Must possess a Virginia CDL, Class C or higher, with Passenger endorsement or the ability to obtain license and endorsement within 90 days of hire. DTGC will provide training to assist in obtaining a CDL. Preference will be given to applicants willing to work some Saturdays. Rate of pay is $10.00 per hour.

Senior Community Service Employment Program training positions are available for applicants age 55 or older with limited income. This program is for paid training to update skills and develop new skills to enter unsubsidized employment. Pay for these positions is limited to the federal minimum wage.

POSITION OPEN TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES INCLUDES:

 

TRANSIT SYSTEM OPERATIONS SPECIALIST (In-House Only; Marion office)--Under the immediate supervision of the Transit System Area Supervisor, the Operations Specialist will be responsible for transporting public riders on vehicles, and possess a working knowledge of the District Three Transportation Manual.  A CDL is required.  The Operations Specialist must drive, but will also dispatch and perform other duties in support of the Dispatchers/Area Supervisors.  This person must act in a courteous manner at all times. Rate of pay is up to $1.00 increase from current hourly rate.  Position is part-time with hours to be determined.
